Thank you for your duties towards the German National Team, Miro! You retire the top World Cup goal-scorer and 2014 World Cup winner. Ich liebe dich!

I Will Make You Ship It: Polish Bros: 7/? - WC 2014 Edition

You weren’t using your heart, right? Good, because I’m about to rip it out.

This here, this friendly against Armenia in June (two days after Lukas’ 29th birthday and three before Miroslav’s 36thjust ahead of the WC, when Miroslav finally broke Gerd Müller’s record, was his last game playing alongside Lukas. Throughout the entire World Cup neither man was on the pitch at the same time thus, after Miro’s retirement from the NT, making this their final game. Cue the sound of my heart breaking.

The match was then followed by this sweet post from Lukas: [x].

The real kicker: It was Lukas who assisted Miroslav on his record breaking 69th goal, which was, of course, a header.

Their final game together included this text book example of their wonderful partnership and innate ability to always know where one another is on the pitch—and link up perfectly. Just like old times.
